Illustrative Map-Making

Create a unique illustrated map of your chosen location in this one day workshop.

We will briefly look at other cartography and the parts of a map, share ideas and then make a rough sketch of the location. You will include historical and personal details and perhaps folklore which will help instill a sense of place, and record your ideas and feelings.

You will improve your drawing and learn about cartographic icons, and discover the Turkish map fold!

Finally you will assemble your map as a final image which you can also choose to get scanned and printed at a later date.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with drawing experience.

All materials, a light lunch and refreshments are included in the workshop fee. You will just need to bring along an idea of the area you want to map and any reference materials to refer to.
