Natural Remedies for Health and Wellbeing

This workshop is for anyone who is interested in alternative therapies to find natural ways to boost your health and wellbeing.

You will be introduced to aromatherapy, finding out how to select and use essential oils safely. These can help with skin problems, stress and anxiety, sleep and basic first aid.

Discover Hydrosols and how to use them, as well as soothing self-massage techniques.

You will also be introduced to the Bach Flower remedy system and how to select remedies depending on your mood and situation. You will be given the opportunity to make your own personal treatment bottle to take home.

This workshop will provide an opportunity to develop your holistic therapy knowledge and skills in a friendly, sociable environment and enable you to take what you have learned in the session and practice at home.

Tutor will provide all materials for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee.

A picnic lunch is provided.

Festive Soap Making

Handmade soaps are a delight, even more so if you have made them yourself. Come and join us, melting, stirring and pouring our way to the perfect, cold process, traditional soap. Why not add some delicious fragrances such as cinnamon, orange or lemon and mint followed with a sprinkle of gold mica to enhance that festive feeling. Choose your fragrance and adornments to personalise your soaps making them perfect gifts for family and friends.

You will each create a 500gms batch of soap (equivalent to approximately 6 standard bars of soap).

Your tutor will supply all soap  making ingredients for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Festive Candle Making

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon discovering the delights of candle making.

Learn how to pour a container candle using sustainable rapeseed wax and how to 'wick' candles correctly. Have fun choosing your colours and joyful festive fragrances and learn how to add these to your poured candle. You will also make either Christmas tree candles, or two colour ‘helter skelter’ candles with beautiful coloured sheets of beeswax.

A wonderful way to decorate your home over the festive period.

Your tutor will supply all candle making ingredients for this workshop. This will enable you to make one container candle and either two Christmas tree candles or two ‘helter skelter’ candles.

Painted Stained Glass Panel - 3 Day Course

An exciting three day workshop where you will design and make a beautiful, painted and stained glass panel.

Learn how to combine coloured glass, glass paints, lead cames, solder and leaded light cement to create a unique panel to take home.

Day one; Learn how to create a simple design template for your panel and then how to safely cut coloured and textured glass to fit.

Day two; Learn how to mix and apply black and brown stained glass paints. You will start by practising on spare pieces of glass before using these techniques on several of the cut  pieces from your design. These pieces will be fired in the glass kiln overnight making the painted detail permanent on your glass.

Day three; Assemble all of your prepared glass pieces and lead these together to form your unique panel. This will be ready to take home at the end of your workshop.

*Some glass experience is preferred for this workshop.

Tutor will provide all materials for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee.

Chinese Brush Painting – Peony And Insect Scroll

Chinese brush painting is about opening the mind to a completely new way of creating imagery. Unlike in western art, simple birds, flowers, leaves and insects are created by the stroke of a brush.    Enjoy a full day of Chinese brush painting whilst looking at one of the most popular flowers in Chinese Art. The peony is the flower of China, known as “Grande Corniche”

Today we will explore the brush strokes that make up the petals and leaves.  From these exercises we will design a small scroll. Insects will make up part of the days studies.

If you have Chinese brushes and paints from previous workshops,please bring these along.

Colourful Decorations

Festive Angel Tea Light

Create your own festive figures using jewel-like coloured glass and copper foiling. This is often referred to as the ‘Louis Tiffany’ technique.

Learn how to cut and shape your glass and how to grind the edges in preparation for foiling and soldering to create a 3D tea light.

Netsuke

The Inro and Netsuke (net-sk)  originated in the 16th century and became collectible in 18th century Europe. Worn by Japanese men under the Obi or sash, they were used to carry things of importance such as medicines or money.

During this workshop you will make a simple imitation of the Inro and Netsuke (net - sk). This can be hung as a decorative form or given as a gift.

You will learn how to apply Xuan paper to a hard surface and apply a coloured glaze to the finished article.

We will look to Japanese design for inspiration.
