Liz Gurney
Liz Gurney comes from a long line of dressmakers. Her mother, grandmother and great grandmother have all passed on their skills to her over many years. Her love of dressmaking began with making doll’s clothes as a young child but soon grew into a passion for many other crafts including, knitting, crochet, patchwork, costume making, beading and millinery.
She currently works as a dressmaker specialising in alterations to couture wedding dresses and also undertakes commissions for clients.
Her millinery skills were learnt at Wombourne School of Millinery and she has recently featured in a DVD on how to make fascinators produced by How2Hats in which she demonstrates one of her designs.
She is also an expert tutu maker where her past experience as a dance teacher has given her a special insight into this complex and fascinating area of dance costume.
Liz is thrilled to be a new tutor at Westhope College and looks forward to sharing her skills and enthusiasm with her students
