An Introduction to Papercutting

Learn how to design and create a paper cut panel unique to you. You will master basic accurate cutting techniques and explore letter forms and a wide variety of cut out items including Polish paper cuts, Haitian metal work and Victorian fret work.

You’ll get to grips with combining creative lettering and imagery and how translate your ideas and design in to a beautiful cut out.

As an award winning graphic designer and experienced teacher, Christine is able to inspire total novices about design, working with letter forms, lay out and using a selection of appropriate and fabulous resources..

Great fun and just a bit addictive!

Tutor will provide all materials for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Introduction to Paper Marbling
COURSE FULL

This workshop is an introduction to the traditional craft of paper marbling.

After an overview of marbling and the process, such as preparing the marbling bath, aluming the papers and mixing paints, you will begin to create your own marbled papers with your own marbling tray. Learn a range of traditional and modern marbling patterns using tools and combs.

In this fun and friendly workshop no prior experience is needed, and you will leave with a new skill you can try at home.

Tutor will provide all materials for this workshop. This cost is included in your fee.

Mini Collage Concertina Books

Spend a creative day making mini collaged concertina books. Investigate collage techniques using a variety of media, pre-printed papers, fabric, magazine images and text, then you could embellish with stitch or drawing techniques. You will be guided through choosing a theme and how to investigate new creative ideas developing your artistic practice. You will soon start your own library of inspirational books that can be hung as wall art or stretched out on a shelf. They make wonderful gifts and the contents could reflect a shared memory or convey a special personal message. It is a great way to use prints that you may have created on the gel plate printing workshop.
