PAPER ART

SIMPLE BOOK BINDING

Hand-made books for drawing or journaling can be easily made at home without specialist equipment.
Starting with a single section notebook to practise technique, you will then use the Retchoso sewing technique to produce a small book. The paper cover can be a piece that you have decorated yourself or chosen from a selection available on the day.

JAPANESE BOOK BINDING

A traditional bookbinding style from Japan where the binding stitches form a pleasing pattern. This form of binding is sometimes called 'stabbed' because the stitching holes are prepared with a bradawl before sewing.
The cover is made from a piece of suminagashi paper (Japanese marbled paper) which can be a piece that you have made yourself or chosen from a selection on the day.
Make at least one book to take home.
